With the auction of Wedginald closing on Monday, we are delighted to let you know that the West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers Group raised a fantastic £1145 for BBC’s Children in Need. With a total of 36 bids, we had nearly 200 people watching Wedginald as the auction closed. We can reveal that the winner is an ex-Somerset chap, from Chard in fact, who emigrated to New Zealand to set up a winery. We couldn’t have wished for a better destination for Wedginald, and promise to keep you updated as to how his journey down under goes.
For now though, you can see him back on www.cheddarvision.tv until 19th December.
For those of you who were disappointed not to win, don't forget you can order a wedge of one of Wedginald's siblings or cousins by clicking on www.farmhousecheesemakers.com/shop
Welcome to the West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers Farmhouse Kitchen Blog.
This new addition to the online home of handmade Cheddar gives you a chance to tell us what you think of our cheeses, ask us questions about cheesemaking and our farms and keep up to date with what we are up to down here in the West Country.
We will be adding recipes and serving suggestions, news and views, diary dates and much more on a daily basis so make sure you log on regularly. Feel free to comment on what you read or use the form to your right to send us your queries, views and recipes.
Why not make a pot of tea, a cup of coffee or open a bottle of wine, pull up a chair and join us for a chat in the farmhouse kitchen...
